THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .I received a question about corner window treatments (hardware specifically) in the comments on
this post, so I decided to do a general post on corner window treatments.
I haven't had to deal with corner windows before and am definitely not an expert on them, so I just dug up as much info as I could find for you. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but here's what I found...
BHG has a slide show on
Window Treatment Ideas for Corner WindowsSouthern Living suggests hiding the hardware behind a pelmet...
Phoebe Howard used a simple tailored, pleated valance to contrast the modern corner windows in this New York apartment makeover...
These soft roman shades are a pretty option in this little nook...
Young House Love shows you how they mounted their corner curtain rods in

Designer Meg Braff chose to use two different types of window treatments on the corner windows in her guest bedroom.
E-How has an informative articles on
Window Treatments for Corner Windows and
How Do You Hang Corner Curtain Rods?Tammy from
In Stitches had the following to say about corner window treatments
"When I am treating a corner window there are a couple of different methods that I use. Obviously, if you are using a valance or a rod pocket panel then you can just butt or bend the rod because it won't show. If I'm using panels and the rod will show then I have my installer miter the rods in the corner if they are wood. Another option is to use a corner swivel bracket made by Kirsch."
She uses the following hardware from Kirsch and Helser Brothers and you can contact her

And just in case you're bored with this post because you don't have a corner window, here's a little random corner inspiration that has nothing to do with window treatments :-) ...
I've shown this image in at least one previous post, but I still love the idea for accessorizing a corner with art...
Or how about this idea from
Southern Living?

Phoebe Howard placed the sofa at an angle to compensate for an odd corner in this living room and then accessorized behind it with art on an easel.
Gotta love a corner gallery wall...
How about a corner picture frame? It's a clever idea, isn't it?!!! (Yvonne Schroeder via Apar

Happy Monday, everyone! Don't forget - today is the last day to enter the GIVEAWAY!
THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .Monica at
Craftynest posted a tutorial for making this frame within a frame. Don't you love the idea? It gives the art great dimension and it's unique (and you know I like that!) Click
here to see what she started with as well as her complete tutorial.
Make today a great day!
I was in
HomeGoods the other day and saw what I thought was a great option for inexpensive wall art!
These are peel and stick, but I thought if you wanted a little more custom look they would look great matted and framed, or just framed. They had other options there as well, but the geometrics were my favorites and one of the few styles that I felt would be suitable for framing because each pattern is on an individual sheet. (also they look rather shiny in these photos because I was taking a picture of the package, but they actually have a fairly matte finish.)

Don't know if your local HomeGoods has them or not, but at $14.99 for a pack of 9 (that was the price on the geometrics) it's certainly worth checking out!
11/10/10 - Linking to Maria's art party!
So what did you think of the whole Wordless Wednesday thing? I'm not typically
super chatty Kathy anyways (at least not on this blog :-) ), but I have to admit it was hard not to say ANYTHING at all!
Moving on.
Unexpected Art. This image below really appeals to me for some reason. I'm absolutely sure it's the gallery wall at the head of the bed that's doing it for me, even though I really like the pillow and the pops of pink too. I also really *like the way they balanced the right side of the grouping with the longer... okay here's the question, the longer what? Is it actually a piece of art or is it a white board with squiggles? I'm thinking it's a white board. Right? If you're not into white boards, I still think this whole gallery wall layout is one to copy.
(*to clarify, I like the way they used a longer piece on the right to balance the left, but I'm thinking my personal preference would definitely be to use something besides a white board to get the same balance.)
Getty Images from ivillage Art in unexpected places. I saw this image on Family Circle's website, with the suggestion to hang your photographs or artwork in unexpected places, like a door. I like it!

The Amanda Nisbet image at the beginning of this post is from my Art In Unexpected Places post that I did last October. Check it out if you're looking for more inspiration.
Hope you have an outstanding day! (trying to come up with different words besides good or awesome or fabulous. Open to suggestions :-) )
I like this candy corn tree from
Family Circle. Cute, but not too much so...

Scene of the Grime. Congratulations, Laurie! Melea will be contacting you soon!
At Home Arkansas Photo Rett Peek I always love seeing things used in ways that they weren't originally intended to be used, and the doors in this post are a great example of that.
What makes this particular image even better is that the beautiful color on this barn door is original...

I think these are probably actually shutters, not doors, but...
Those of you who have been in blogland for any amount of time probably have this concept down, but just a reminder to always keep your mind open when looking at anything. You know what it is, but what could it become?

Another reminder that the Pattern Inspiration Linky Party is this Wednesday, October 13th! I took some photos of a room makeover this weekend that I'll be sharing at some point in the next few weeks, and it got me thinking about circles and dots. I think that's what my pattern inspiration post will be about on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing what patterns/shapes inspire you!
THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .I doubt that the art in this home designed by
Lynn Morgan Design is actually ribbon, but it looks like it could be, doesn't it?

A cute ribbon wall in this girl's room from Ivory Living...
It would be fairly simple to recreate the look of this
Ballard slipcover using ribbon...
We've seen the idea of embellishing window treatments with ribbon before, but I thought this oversized tattersall pattern was interesting and the look could really change from cute to sophisticated depending on the fabric and style of ribbon used.
Midwest Living gives you step by step instructions.

Two more of their projects with tutorials are:

THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .Happy Friday everyone! Hope you've had a good week. It's been a busy one for me without much time for posting or blog visiting, but I at least wanted to get this little
random post out today in time to tell you HAPPY WEEKEND!
I saw this art by Hope Smith at
Target this week. I really like it and am thinking I need to find somewhere to use it in my house. They're only 12 x 12 so they would even fit on a bookshelf. I went to Target's website to find the images for this post, but they evidently only sell these in their stores. Luckily
allposters.com sells them as well, so these images are from their site...
On a completely unrelated note... a while back I bookmarked a post on
Apartment Therapy that had design tips from designer
Kenneth Brown. The design tip that he was demonstrating with the photo below was:
"Each room should have at least one unique piece that has a special meaning to you (even if it doesn’t match the decor of the room)." Great advice, and I love the unexpected element of the rustic table in this room!

Hope you all have an awesome weekend!
